Shopping, Dining, Culture

Dockside Green’s South Plaza will be the hub of activity and the perfect place to shop and dine. Bakeries, coffee shops, hair stylists, health food stores, craft stores, restaurant/pub, kayak rentals and grocery stores are the types of businesses one might expect to visit at Dockside Green. Visitors and residents alike will also be able to enjoy the many amenities of Victoria’s downtown core, just a short stroll away.

Pedestrian Friendly Design

A central greenway running the length of the community will serve as the main pedestrian artery complete with a scenic naturalized waterway that acts as an essential tool in treating stormwater and plays a major role in the community’s ecosystem.

The ever-popular cyclist and pedestrian trail known as the Galloping Goose Regional Trail runs along the harbourfront and offers convenient access to the city with designated bike paths and wide pedestrian promenades. Similarly, a pedestrian staircase provides easy access from the south end of the greenway to Harbour Road.

Extensive tree planting, public art and interpretive signage sprinkled throughout the community further enhance the pedestrian experience and overall community atmosphere.

Water Access

The easily accessible waterfront walkway and park have been constructed on the northeast portion of the site adjacent to the shoreline which has been enhanced to offer a tranquil seaside setting with native plantings and natural rock outcroppings.

A scenic pier is the ideal place to catch a summer sunset. It extends beyond the shoreline, at the north end of the site and connects to a floating dock with a Harbour Ferry Stop and a launch area for canoes and kayaks.

Transportation

In an effort to reduce vehicle traffic and the community’s environmental footprint, Dockside Green features a variety of innovative transportation initiatives including a vehicle sharing program, Harbour Ferry dock and bike trails with an abundance of secure bike racks thoughtfully placed throughout the community.

The vehicle sharing program is in partnership with the Victoria Car Share Co-operative and is offered to all residential and commercial units. Exceeding the LEED® requirement and a traffic reduction study recommending one shared vehicle for every 150 residences, Dockside Green will provide at total of 10 vehicles – one for every 90 residences.
